The Central Market of Valencia is on Avenida Barón de Cárcer, near the Lonja de la Seda.
In 1882, Valencia opened a competition of projects to build a fully covered market and that the rise of the bourgeois class and its need to prove their wealth and welfare uncomfortable Valencian society.
The winners of the competition were Francesco Guardia i Vial and Alexandre Soler i March, both graduating from the School of Architecture in Barcelona. The construction of the building, as we know it today, dates back to 1914.
Currently, the Central Market has nearly 300 small traders. The Central Market has been modernized and tailored to the needs of users, furthermore it offers online shopping and home-based services that simplifies the buying processes.
